  1. Good Evening

I've been curious about a site for a scene in the original Bad News Bears. The scene where Buttermaker takes the team to clean a pool. The pool is an in ground pool that is on top of a hill (judging from the view). I'd like to know if it is a house in Woodland Hills. Thanks!

    4. Interesting. That address is right up the street from the drug dealers house in "Boogie Nights". (Sadly, Rahad's house was demolished this year, an enormous McMansion going up in it's place.)

  2. The house with the pool will be very difficult to find from Bad News Bears but maybe some day I will get a tip.

Filming locations for Dutch will be down the road someday because a lot of the movie is not filmed in Chicago. Through time hopefully things will be found.

  10. I know it's not Chicago or LA or even Indiana but if you were looking for a great movie to track down I would love to see some locations for Elizabethtown. It's one of my favorite movies with great Northern Kentucky and Southern Indiana scenes.

And we can't wait for you to come to Bloomington for some Breaking Away work! If you haven't thought about it yet and you get stuck you might want to check out the old newspaper articles the Indiana Room in the public library has. :) Good luck! Love the site!

  11. Sara D,

I actually had a college class with the woman who owned the main house used in Elizabethtown. She had mentioned she got a large sum of money and I nosily asked how and she said it was because of all the filming they did there. I am almost positive she lived in Altadena, although it could have been North Pasadena (north of the 210 freeway). IIRC she also mentioned they liked her location because there was a lot of open land nearby. I haven't seen the movie, and can't give mush more help, but maybe that will give you a lead looking at online maps :)

  13. Hi Chas. Amazing site you have here. Very very helpful and thorough.

Sent you an email 3/3 (using the gmail address on this site) re. your activities (going into more detail than a form like this is appropriate for, I guess). (Hoping it didn't go in a spam folder.)

I do the same mass movie-location touring thing as you - but for NY, SF, DC and Chicago so far (it's like fun detective work, and I've gotten good at it over the last 2 years). If you want to converse by email, welcomed by me.

    Keep up the good work.

  25. Hi Chas. Love your site. I'm a big Charmed fan. I just left the following comment about the county jail in Episode 15:

Re Episode 15 at the "California County Jail." I believe this is the receiving entrance at the old Sybil Brand Institute for Women, 4500 East City Terrace Drive, Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA. The camera shots were taken behind a wall and gate and thus cannot be seen from the street, though the outside of the wall and gate can be seen. I recognize this from other movie and TV shows this location has been used for, including the 1976 TV movie Helter Skelter. This was actually the place where Manson family member Susan Atkins was held prior to her trial on the Sharon Tate murder case. According to the Wikipedia article, it ceased being uses in the 1990s. It appears the facility is used for other purposes now as many police cars (county sheriff's deputies?) can be seen in Google Earth.

    1. I don't own the movie but when I have time I will get it from Netflix and see if I know it. I usually stay away from most interiors though.

  89. Here's a link to that scene: https://youtu.be/5o2Z5RJ7nuo

It's the interiors that are REALLY challenging! ;-)

  91. I found where the grocery store and the gas station scene from Mac And Me was filmed. The grocery store is now the Kern County Human Services Department on 2340 State Highway 58 in Mojave, California. But the nearby gas station that got blown up in the movie was either a set or an actual gas station that was going to get demolished anyway.

  94. Hi Chas,

One film I didn't find here and would suggest you add is "The Kid Who Loved Christmas" (1990). I became aware of this film while riding a northbound bus in March of 1990 through the intersection of Broadway & Roscoe and spotting man-made snow piled outside of a single storefront on Roscoe where I learned later location shooting for the film had taken place. There was no other snow on the ground which made it stand out. I'd long been curious about this film but just got to watch for the first time this Christmas.

    Thanks.

  98. We lived at a house in Sun Valley where both High Crimes and Evil Alien Conquerors were filmed. I don't think either one did well at the box office. For High Crimes, it's the house that Ashley Judd "rented" so she could investigate her husband's case. In EAC, I think it was Kenny's house where the guys hung out and plotted how they were going to take over the world. Although it has changed a lot over the years you can probably still recognize it. The address is 10145 Wealtha Ave., Sun Valley, CA 91352.

  111. Hi! I was wondering if you could please help me find the farm that was used in the movie the "The Mosquito Coast"? I have some info that might help you find it. I was watching Addam the Woos video where he showed where the scene when they were driving was filmed. It is Highway 27 corner of Martha berry street in Rome Ga. I was told that they were traveling up north on Martha Berry street about 12 miles and that apparently is where the farm is. If you could help me that would be Awesome! Thanks!
