ReplyDeleteThe production company bought 50 junk motorcycles from that junkyard. First the art director had us paint them three different colors. We bought the paint from a local automotive paint store and we didn't the guy at the store that it was for a movie se when I went back he was asking me how the colors were ( because Gene Callahan had made us get each color to be between the colors on the chart. So I said the colors were great but that we had changed our mind and were going to paint them white. Callahan decided He wanted us to paint them white and sprinkle mica flakes on them which would make them change colors when they shined colored lights at them. So the paint store guy asked me what part of the bikes are you painting I said. "we are painting the gas tanks the fenders and the boxes on each side whee the batteries were" he nodded his head and I continued " the handle bars, the tires, the seats, the spokes." and he began to look at me really funny and said "hey wait a minute, people don't paint those things" I waited a couple seconds ant then told him it was for a movie and was going to be Motorcycle Heaven. We both had a big laugh. I also bought pink paint to paint plastic bowling balls for the dancing in the bowling alley scene. The bowling alley was already abandoned when we got there and Brunswick a bowling alley company came in and refurbished all the lanes just for the movie they also gave all of us shoes balls and bags that worked on the movie. We got to do all the things you could ever want to do at a bowling alley like throwing two balls running down the lane and kicking down the pin pin stayed up sliding and knocking pins down etc. etc. Sorry for being so Long.
