  1. The dumping of Donny's ashes (or attempt thereof) at San Pedro I believe is where the sunken city is, too. It was an area of San Pedro that literally sunk into the ocean at some point in the early 20th century. One of the reasons people aren't supposed to go back there is because there is still infrastructure that hasn't been removed. Literal streets that have been toppled. People go back there all the time illegally. You pretty much do so at your own risk. Here's an interesting video about it.

The Lebowski mansion is on Charing Cross Lane, I believe the same street as the Playboy mansion. A few celebs live on that street, too. I'm pretty sure Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere lived there when they were married, and that the "gerbil incident" was at that house. Singer/producer Babyface and his ex wife Tracey Edmonds lived on that street when they were married as well. One of them might still live there.

I've read somewhere that the new bowling alley on Franklin in Hollywood has the exact same interior design as the since torn down building used in Lebowski.

  2. People go into Sunken City in San Pedro all of the time. You just do it at your own risk. Slip and fall, can't sue the city. Get mugged, can't call the police or they haul you to jail too. People always go down there though. I'm surprised you didn't see people hopping that fence when you took the picture.
