My Top 10 Most Wanted Missing Locations

I have a lot of fun in this great but sometimes frustrating hobby of trying to track down filming locations on my own but there are times that I have no luck. Sometimes it is because the building or house has been torn down and other times it is just eluding me because there just aren't enough clues for me to track it down on my own. This page was made in hopes someone may see the following screen shots and either recognize the filming location or know the town, neighborhood, or street that it may be located. There is a spot, at the bottom of this page, where you can put a comment if you have any info that may assist me in finding a certain missing location. If you would rather send me an
E-mail that works as well.

I will have a link to click on for my top 10 for both Chicago and Los Angeles Movies. For the movie links my list starts with my most wanted missing location first and then going in order for the other nine. This list will be ever changing or at least I hope as it will be great to get some of the locations found. I will try to add as many screen shots as possible to assist anyone that may recognize something.

I also have a missing television locations link for both Chicago and Los Angeles

  1. For your list of Chicago Movies, you should add Four Friends, in which significant portions were shot in Evanston, just north of town.

  2. Dave's scrapyard appears to be in Northern California, possibly the Sonoma valley. I've lived in the SF bay area for 30 years and the mountains in the scene look very familiar to me.

  3. Hansen Dam Park Maintenance

Another site indicates this location which appears similar to the No. CA bay area mountains

  4. The missing location for the Chain Reaction scene is most likely the former location of the U.S. Steel South Works complex. It ran along the Lake Michigan shoreline from 7900 South to ~ 9300 South. The two features that lead me to this conclusion are:
    1. The many power lines and towers ran throughout the complex. They remained long into the long term demolition phase; during the 1996 filming year.
    2. In the background on the left side of the still shot are two structures that appear to be Ore Walls that extend from the lake westward through the site.

By the way,I enjoyed reading your background story- I also got the "bug" for Chicago locations from Watching the Blues Brothers.

  16. Good evening
I forget which movie it was, but wasn't there a gas station you couldn't identify for one of the LA located movies? I tried looking at some of the movies on your LA list, but couldnt narrow it down. Do you recall which movie you were looking for a gas station?
