  1. You are the Man!! Sounds strange, but I was always curious about this subject. Do you know the address of the "Barry Williams home" that was filmed in "growing up Brady"? How in the world did you track this stuff down? Do you know someone from the original filming?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

  2. Hi Jeff, sorry for the very late reply. I got lucky and got a tip from Mr. Lloyd Schwartz a couple of years ago and he helped me out with a couple of places but most of this info was just major research on my part. Thank you for the nice comments.

  3. Fantastic site! Thank you for the thorough breakdown. I have been in search for these very locations!! I already found the location for Mike Brady's house from the pilot back in 2007. Had to squeeze it out of Lloyd Schwartz's sister. She is very nice. Now, from the Sergeant Emma episode, I knew they turned down N. June Street from 1st, but I didn't know what part of town they were in. And props to you for finding the location where Jan rides her bike in "Not-so Rose-Colored Glasses." Now, I would like to make a correction. I too got the info from Lloyd Schwartz about the location of Mike Brady's Architecture office. That was the old Beverly Hills Library, and actually there are pics of the building posted on Facebook by the most wonderful Alison Martino of Vintage Los Angeles. Lloyd told me the building existed on Little Santa Monica Blvd in Century City, but Alison gave me a different scoop. So I'm not sure anymore of its exact location. It was so great to stumble upon your site. It's fantastic. Please, if you're on Facebook, I run a page called "Brady House Historian," where I have posted in-depth virtual tour videos of the Dilling St. house and the entire set of the Brady Bunch, and I'd love to have you join in the dialogue. Lloyd Schwartz has been a wonderful contributor too. I've also posted the vids on Youtube as well. Have a wonderful day. ---Scott (Brady House Historian)

  7. This was really enjoyable. I too was always curious. Being from Los Angeles, I figured the house and neighborhood were somewhere in the San Fernando Valley, but didn't know exactly where.
    Thanks again!

  8. Great site! I wish there were more information available. My favorite Brady blooper is in the 5th season episode "Peter and the Wolf." In the scene where Mike & Carol and the Mexican couple and Greg & Peter and their dates (separately) go to an Italian restaurant, they cut in some stock footage of a building with a high stoop that would be out of place anywhere in California. It was probably filmed in New York City.

  12. Awesome job Chas! Thanks for sharing. I grew up with the Brady Bunch and was always fasinated with their home and location. So many times I've driven through southern California but never knew exactly these spots. Again great job! BTW Im watching an episode as I type this lol. 13. Hey Chas, awesome site. I was just watching the Brady Bunch season 2 episode called Coming Out Party where Cindy and Carol are checked into the hospital to have their tonsils out. I was wondering where that hospital is/was. Would you happen to know? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have wondered that same thing myself, as it looks very similar to the hospital that my uncle was in back in the early '80's. That hospital was located in La Habra, but I cannot remember the name of it.

  14. Always interesting to see the actual filming locations of areas that are "familiar" to you when you've seen them on screen time and time again. It's also interesting to note that many of those filming locations haven't changed too much in over 40 years.

  15. What about the auditorium where the Bradys do the Marcia-Carol, Greg-Mike show. Was that in the Dixie Canyon Elementary School?

Also what about the very large auditorium where Jan breaks down and confesses she did not get the top score on that essay? Which high school was that in?

Finally the field where Greg takes those pictures of the cheerleader? Was that the same field where Deacon Jones was filmed?

  16. This may have already been said. But if I am not mistaking the Ghost town looks just like the town "Sleepy Eye" on Little House on the Prarie. I know it's a set and I think it was used in the Dukes of Hazzard one of the early seasons.

  17. Thank you so much for all of the info!! I'm such a Brady fan, and this site helped me out a lot!! I did visit the house, and the neighbors must have some sort of "sacred pact" not to discuss the house with anyone, because when I got out to take pictures, and spoke to some of the neighbors, they all told me they've never even heard of "The Brady Bunch!!" LOL!! Again, thank you so much....my next stop will be King's Island!!

  18. Wow, this is totally cool! I'm a big Brady fan so it was interesting to read. Your research killed some of my hopes though that that ghost town was real. *Sigh*

  19. I have the Brady Bunch collection on DVD & watch it over & over & over again, as a very old adult, I no longer have to listen to my parents say "Are you watching that AGAIN?" I live in Santa Monica & have a friend in the Larchmont area. We were leaving his house one day and came upon the entrance to Paramount Studios. After driving around that neighborhood I suspected much of the outdoor filming was in that vicinity. Your site confirmed it. Thank you for this information!! Sincerely, a VERY BIG BRADY Fan. PS. Christine Taylor, who played Marcia in the Brady movie is from my hometown or Allentown, PA.... six degrees of Brady separation...

  20. Love this site!! I grew up with the Brady kids and am so thrilled that my daughter is too, thanks to the DVDs. We're from Iowa and took a trip to L.A./Hollywood last summer. As a child, I had always wondered where the Brady House was located and hoped to see it someday...my dream came true. What a thrill to stand on the sidewalk in front of the House with my daughter and get some awesome pictures. I still can't believe that I was actually there. So cool!!

  26. Hello! :) I was just doing some research as to the cafe featured in the episode "Where Alice Goes to Be a Waitress". The location is now called 'Gala Thai', 3353 Barham Blvd., Los Angeles. I hope this helps your inquiry as well, Chas :) Great site, by the way!
    ~ Sarah

    ReplyDelete
  27. Nice site. I work as a location manger and scout and agree with your assessment that Gala Thai is probably not the Golden Spoon. One might argue it is about angles but i can't see that angle anywhere esp as it sits at a cross street. Also the roof line is not exact and the sidewalk is slightly smaller in the screen grab. If anything the road would have widened. My guess is it is probably gone as well. If you are still searching it probably resides on the south side of Ventura Blvd East of Laurel Canyon. Other establishing shot locations are nearby and the show was modeled after Studio City/Sherman Oaks. The hillside and power lines are similar. And many of the lower hillside homes were built in the years since the 70s. Good luck.

  34. Excellent work on the site. I also enjoyed reading the comments from all the Brady Bunch Fan-atics! Thanks for sharing.

  35. Cool site. Being 47 I'm obviously a BB fan growing up in the 70s. My9 yo son is now a huge fan and trivia master. He has seen every episode at least 5 times. So glad he likes it!! So much better than any shows these days.

The only movie trivia I can add is the Franklin reservoir where the camp trip was filmed is the same as The Andy Griffith Show "Myers Lake" in the opening credits as well as many other episodes filmed there. Being a HUGE fan of Andy Grifffith show I walked my son down same path, holding his hand as Andy Griffith did with Ron Howard in the opening credits! Cool stuff!

Living in Bakersfield Ca we are about 100 miles north of Hollywood. I love going to filming locations. Although a lot of older show sets are gone, the Simi Valley where MASH and Little House Was filmed is an awesome site to visit. Although the Little House town, "Walnut Grove" burned years ago, you can still see a lot of familiar places. Also still some MASH jeeps and other props laying around our there. It's all right by the Reagon Library.

  42. I am pretty sure Sam's butcher shop was 12131 Ventura Blvd. which was Webby's bakery at the time. Was 11900 Ventura Blvd. his office on the TV show or maybe just a Brady Bunch movie in the early 90s?

  44. Does anyone know where the interior auditorium scenes were filmed? Not Cindy’s Elementary school, Jan’s school in “Her sister’s shadow” episode. I swear it’s Thomas Starr King, but I would like confirmation. Thanks
