  1. I recall the scene where Bill Murray was driving on the train tracks was filmed at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL.

    1. Yeah no shit dumbass it says that here already

  2. Thank you RebelGTP for the info on the blizzard highway location as it has now been added. Also, thank you RyanKul for the info on where the welcome sign was. Your help is greatly appreciated.

  3. Live in the neighboring town of McHenry, been to all of these locations.

  4. anyone knows the street from the beginning? the director said thats the actual street to Punxsutawney but I cant find it anywhere. Its right before the Punxsutawney Sign scene.

  5. Regarding the Punxsutawney Sign scene, that sign was set up and taken down in less than two hours! I got to see it being set up on my way to a haircut appointment, and planned to stop and take pictures on the way home, but it was completely gone without a trace by then.

  6. please could someone find out the street from the beginning? In the commentaries the director Ramis said its the actual street to gobblers knob but Ive been there this year (Punxsutawney) and I didnt find that street and I think thats the only still unknown location from the movie.

    1. It's Rt 31 in Algonquin IL... By the corner of Cary Rd and Main St(Rt 31). There inst much to see other than the old restaurant that is now a year round costume shop that is closing at the end of October. the brick gates are still there though.. I live about 5 minutes from there..

    2. Does anyone know the location when the news van exits with the sign Punxsutawney / Marchand on it?

  7. Loves Park is in Rockford Illinois pretty far from Woodstock actually

  8. Hi
What is known about the little town on the hill they drive through at the beginning (04:30)?

    1. I asked that before, seems like nobody knows, I don’t know why the site owner never mentioned the location. I looked for this street/town for years. ramis said in the commentary it’s the actual street to the real Punxsutawney but I’ve been there and checked google maps but couldn’t find anything, it’s a big miracle.

  9. Does anyone know where in Cary Illinois they filmed the interiors at? And what all was filmed there?

    1. I read somewhere is the Phil’s room where he slept in an empty warehouse.
