  1. The drive by shooting location is now torn down and is a parking lot. This google maps link shows street view what the area looks like today and screenshots from the movie. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=2505+e+cesar+chavez+ave+los+angeles,+ca&sll=30.392145,-97.839743&sspn=0.009625,0.022724&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=2505+East+Cesar+E+Chavez+Avenue,+Los+Angeles,+California+90033&ll=34.046864,-118.20538&spn=0.009245,0.022724&t=h&z=16&layer=c&cbll=34.046212,-118.205637&panoid=rIzZ52byRWhuQOezZXKmcQ&cbp=12,217,,0,6.26

  3. The location of image 0:15 is o.k., but The pictures about the place nowadays are wrong:(south edgeware road and west 2nd street), and the film images are located in south bixel st. and west 1st street. There is a soccer field now.

    1. If you feel I am wrong can you explain how I matched up the pictures to the screen shots?

    2. No, you’re wrong. Chas definitely has the correct pier. The Manhattan Beach Pier isn’t long enough, is too wide and doesn’t have the “notches” on both sides.

I’m guessing you’re saying it’s the Manhattan Beach Pier because you noticed the gazebo-like structure in the first screen cap, and you know that the MBP has a similar structure, the Roundhouse Aquarium.

But that’s not the Roundhouse Aquarium you’re seeing in the screen capture. The Roundhouse Aquarium takes up much more area on the round end of its pier than the structure seen in the screen capture. And while it’s true that there is no such structure at the end of the Venice Pier today, there was one in the early ‘90s, when the movie was filmed.

All you really need to do is compare the building on the far left of Chas’ second screen capture to the building in his photo below it. It’s obviously the same building, as seen from the same pier — Venice Pier.

  6. Really great site. My son lives in Chicago and my daughter in LA, but I’m on the east coast and visit them from time to time. One small error in location I noticed on “Falling Down”. The two movie pictures of the two gang members standing next to the blue Chevy Impala while D-Fens is making the phone call are correctly tagged as the corner of W. 1st Street and S. Bixel Street. But the photo that you took is actually block down on the corner of W. 2nd Street and South Edgeware. The Department of Water and Power building can be seen in both movie pictures and still stands today which matches up on the corner of W. 1st Street and S. Bixel Street.

  9. Screenshot of gang members/car just before .18 is incorrect. View is still very much the same. 1st and Bixel, angled towards the DWP buildings looking downtown. https://www.google.com/maps/@34.0603929,-118.2561023,3a,75y,139.63h,84.57t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s1urJm4-y1nLQEaF6NqgMfg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192
