Most of the movie was filmed in Shenanigans- the chain-link fence is the basketball hoop/cage that was in Shenanigans at that time.
I was 25 years old when I left my small town in Michigan across the lake, and moved to Chicago. I lived a lot of the situations you see in the movie- it got old and lonely after a while.
But it was fun the first few years!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1194902449691728680.post-25525171539427696042014-05-18T23:26:00.180-04:002014-05-18T23:26:00.180-04:00According to this posting, the interior was filmed...According to this posting, the interior was filmed at Mothers 2. (I wouldn't have guessed this, because when I was in that bar, it looked like a dance club, but that was 1989 - so maybe they remodeled?) Butch McGuire's looks more like a regular bar inside (more like the one in the movie). They seem sure though. In the scene I'm referring to, Debbie playfully takes Danny's hat off his head and wears it. They look like they're walking under an L track, in what may be an alley and not a real street. I assume it may be near Wrigley Field, since it was right after the baseball scenes. Anyone know? It could just be that the alley ...It is an enigma.

It could just be that the alley was foreshortened so that it looked like the building across the alley was right next door. Also, the film crew could have put vines up, and other enhancements, to make it look more interesting. I can't imagine why they would film from the rooftop (which they clearly did) - and then go and find a duplicate home to film when they had the same thing right there under the rooftop!

The interior - especially the kitchen - looks exactly like I remember it, including the placement of the windows.

I don't have a copy of the movie, but if I did I would stop the frame where they show the houses across the street (when they unload the stuff from the car) and see if those houses match the ones across from 2244 N. Fremont.

I checked out 2230 N. Fremont and I really don't see how it could be the house in the movie. The front porch is all wrong. The columns are completely different and there is a portion of the porch that juts to the left side, with a little fence. The movie house looks more like 2244 than it does 2230. Still, the alley thing is what stumps me.

By the way, I can't for the life of me find the latest comments on the website - only in my emails. Also, the "use the form to contact me about..." is not a clickable link. I can't find any way to reply to any of the comments I have received via gMail. It doesn't make sense just to post a reply when the other comments I'm commenting on are not shown on the "About Last Night" page of the website. I've spent half an hour looking for them, to no avail.

-Kathy M.Kathy M.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1194902449691728680.post-39673111330817483982012-08-31T20:28:04.896-04:002012-08-31T20:28:04.896-04:00Thank you for your webpage. It was so beautiful, with all the big trees, flower gardens, leaded glass windows and brick & stone exteriors. A man used to come thru the alley with a horse drawn wagon full of fruit for sale. I can still hear his song: "Straw-berries.. blue-berries.. cher-rries!" There used to be a big tarred wood fence on the right that Frank Pasaglia, the landlord, installed to keep people away. He didn't like kids, but he allowed us to live there because he knew my mother when she was a child who lived in the big house across the street, on the corner. At Christmastime my dad always brought home a big pine tree that we decorated in front of the bay window. (We lived on the first floor). I cherish those years - and that wonderful house and neighborhood!
